APICS NONJ presents on May 10th

at its Professional Development Meeting:

Dr. Kevin Lyons and "Green Purchasing"

Dr. Lyons strongly believes in tying the world’s resources, physical environment, innovation, supply chain and purchasing together. Our organizations purchase products and services that can conserve or reduce energy and other natural resources in order to be good stewards of the environment. “Green Purchasing” minimizes negative environmental effects through the use of environmentally-friendly products and practices identified through Dr. Lyons’ supply chain archeology research. It is also a way of adding environmental considerations to the price and performance criteria (from cradle to cradle-supply chain archeological digs) that businesses use to make purchasing decisions, while attempting to identify and reduce the environmental impact and to maximize resource efficiency. Rutgers utilizes this concept in their competitive RFP/Q process and contract negotiations, savings and performance measurements. This presentation is not about what we purchase -- it's about how we purchase and the integration of economics, sustainability, supply chain and the on-going supply chain archeology research to merge these concepts into one application for use by supply chain and procurement professionals today!
